Sri Lanka Army emerges as the champions with flying colours
March 18, 2024Sri Lanka Army dominates by securing the championship of the 18th National Wushu Competition organized by the Sri Lanka National Wushu Federation from March 11 to 13 at the National Youth Centre, Maharagama as well as the overall championship of the 84th Two-Mile Sea Swim Championship, hosted by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) on March 15 and 16 at Mount Lavinia Beach, Army media says.
41 Army competitors participated in the 18th National Wushu Competition and the Army team secured 06 Gold, 09 Silver and 06 Bronze medals in the ‘Sanda’ category and 07 Gold, 04 Silver and 06 Bronze medals in the ‘Taolu’ category.
Army swimmers emerged as the champions of the 84th Annual Two Mile Sea Swim among over 450 competitors representing 47 teams, including swimming clubs and schools, who participated in the event. The Army Aquatic Sport team secured the Tri-Services Championship and the Overall Championship of the men’s event, achieving the highest aggregated marks, it further says.
