New two-storied building handed over to children
at Ilukpitiya Kanishta Vidyalaya

A newly built two-story building constructed with Sri Lanka Army (SLA) expertise at Ilukpitiya Kanishta (Junior) Vidyalaya, Kotapola was handed over to school authorities at a simple ceremony on Monday (Mar. 25). According to SLA media, the ceremony was graced by the Chief of Staff and Senior Adviser to the President on National Security Mr. Sagala Ratnayaka.
Construction work was undertaken by 12 Engineer Services Regiment troops on the directions of Army Commander Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage in response to a request from school authorities. Work on the project commenced in June last year (2023) with the generous support of the Colombo Royal College Old Boys' Association Batch of 1981, it says.
Gracing the ceremony Mr. Ratnayaka unveiled a commemorative plaque and opened the new building, it further says.
Army Commander Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage, Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Maj. Gen. M.K. Jayawardena, Director General Financial Management Maj. Gen. A.H.L.G. Amarapala, General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division Maj. Gen. R.A.J.N. Ranasinghe, senior military officers and school authorities were present at the occasion.
