French Ambassador visits SL Coast Guard HQ
March 28, 2024Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and Maldives His Excellency Jean-François Pactet visited the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) Headquarters in Mirissa recently (Mar.25), reports SLCG media.
Coast Guard Director General Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana received the French Ambassador and later briefed him on the SLCG’s functions. They both discussed the importance of building a strong maritime collaboration between the two countries and the mutual interest, it says.
Subsequently, the Ambassador witnessed a life-rescue drill by Coast Guard lifesavers and also visited the SLCG’s Turtle Conservation Project (TCP) where he observed a turtle hatchling. He was appreciative of the Coast Guard’s commitment to the conservation of valuable marine life.
SLCG Deputy Director General Commodore YR Serasinghe was also present at the occasion.
