SFHQ-East Organizes a Program to Promote Reconciliation in East

Under the guidance of Major General M.K.U.P Gunarathna RSP ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Security Forces - East (SF -East), 'Reconciliation through Language Programme' was conducted at the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-East) on 30 March 2024. This initiative aimed to foster harmony among Sinhala and Tamil students in the Eastern area.

The program facilitated 188 Sinhala students from Nelumwewa Central College and Wellikanda Sinhapura Primary School to learn Tamil, and 120 Tamil students from Ramakrishna Mission College and Mudalikudha Maha Vidyalaya to learn Sinhala.

During the programme, the Commander, SF -East addressed the gathering by highlighting the significance of language learning in promoting reconciliation and encouraged students to enhance their bilingual fluency. He expressed gratitude to all participants, including Rev. Ebenazer Joseph Bishop of Methodist Church Sri Lanka, principals, teachers, students and parents. The event concluded with a musical program and a special lunch for all participants at SFHQ-East.
