President Wickremesinghe presents millions worth
electric tricycles to war heroes

  • Ranaviru Seva Authority (RSA) funded 50 e-tricycles worth about Rs. 17 million presented to war heroes 

With a view to support the mobility of differently-abled war heroes, President Ranil Wickremesinghe distributed 50 electric tricycles among war heroes at a ceremony held at the Defence Ministry in Sri Jayawardanepura, Kotte today (Apr 9).

The President was received by Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne on his arrival at the Ministry this morning.

Minister of Public Security Hon. Tiran Alles, State Minister of Defence Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon and Senior Adviser to the President on National Security and Chief of the Presidential Staff Mr. Sagala Ratnayake were also present at the occasion.

President Wickremesinghe symbolically presented Ranaviru Seva Authority (RSA) funded electric tricycles to several war heroes at the invitation of the Defence Secretary.

Speaking at the occasion, President Wickremesinghe expressed gratitude to the war heroes for their selfless service towards the country. He said that funds will be allocated to purchase 75 more electric tricycles for the differently-abled war heroes and mentioned that among small countries Sri Lanka’s Defence Ministry comes on top in ensuring the welfare of war veterans.

During the occasion, President Wickremesinghe took time off to share a few thoughts with the war heroes. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for this welfare initiative of the RSA.

These e-tricycles each worth about Rs. 337,000.00 will greatly boost the mobility difficulties faced by these war heroes in their day to day activities. The RSA also expects these e-tricycles would also assist to enhance entrepreneurship among the war heroes community.

Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri Forces Commanders, Inspector General of Police, RSA Chairman Maj. Gen. Nishantha Manage (Retd), senior Defence Ministry officials and Senior RSA Officials were also present at the occasion.
