Deegawapi Stupa Restoration Fund receives Rs. 5 million worth donation
December 23, 2020Chief Prelate of the ‘Sri Sambodhi Viharaya’ and Chairperson of 'Bauddhaya' TV Channel Ven. Boralande Wajiragnana Thero donated Rs. 5 million to the Deegawapi Stupa restoration project at the Defence Ministry today (Dec 23).
The Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne who is also the Chairperson of the Presidential Task Force appointed for Archaeological Heritage Management in the Eastern Province, received the donation during the session.
The ‘Deegawapiya Stupa’ restoration project was ceremonially inaugurated and the Prime Minister and the Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa auspiciously laid the foundation stone for the restoration project at the Deegawapiya premises in Ampara on Nov 11, 2020.
