New Pakistan High Commissioner calls on the Defence Secretary
April 30, 2024The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Sri Lanka H.E. Major General Faheem-Ul-Aziz (Retd), paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne at the Defence Headquarters Complex in Sri Jayewardenepura, Kotte today (Apr 30).
Gen. Gunaratne warmly received the Pakistani envoy upon his arrival at the Defence Ministry this afternoon.
During the ensuing discussion Gen. Gunaratne stated his desire to further strengthen the existing close friendship between the two countries while extending warm wishes to the new Pakistan High Commissioner on his recent appointment.
Both high officials paid attention to enhancing defence cooperation, training opportunities and the mutual responsibilities of both countries towards fostering peace and stability in the region.
Military Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Defence Maj. Gen. Dhammika Welagedara and Defence Attaché of the Pakistan High Commission Colonel Muhammad Farooq were also present at the occasion.
