Defence Secretary Chief Guest at Russian Victory Day ceremony
May 08, 2024Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne graced the Russian Victory Day ceremony at the Russian Cultural Centre in Colombo today (May 08).
Ambassador of the Russian Federation H. E. Levan Dzhagaryan received the Defence Secretary on his arrival at the venue today evening.
Russians celebrate Victory Day on 09th May to commemorate victory over Nazi Germany in 1945.
The occasion was also attended by the distinguished guests together with, First Secretary of the Russian Embassy Mrs. Maria L. Popova, Former Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia, Dr. Saman Weerasinghe, Former Commander of Sri Lanka Army, General Daya Rathnayake, Former Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, Admiral Jayantha Perera, Military Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Defence Major General Dhammika Welagedara and Russian embassy officials were also present at the occasion.
