Rainy weather to continue further

Due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the rainy weather presently experienced is expected to continue further.

The Meteorological Department in its latest weather forecast issued at 12.00 noon today (May 14) says showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of the island after 1.00 p.m.

Heavy showers about 100mm are likely at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Eastern provinces. Showers may occur in Western and Southern coastal areas during the morning too.

The National Building Research Organization has issued a Level 1 (yellow) landslide warning to areas in Badulla, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala and Ratnapura districts.

A maximum rainfall of 90.04mm was recorded at Bibile in the Monaragala district while a maximum temperature of 35.7°C was recorded at Ratnapaura during the last 24 hours.
