US embassy donates equipment to SL military

Marking the 76th Anniversary of US-Sri Lankan Diplomacy, the United States transferred a stock of equipment to the Sri Lankan Air Force on Wednesday (Jun 12), says SL Air Force media sources.

During the handing over ceremony held under the patronage of the Air Force Commander, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa and US Ambassador H.E. Julie Chung.

A highlight of the ceremony was the signing and exchange of official documents concerning the US Government's grant of equipment worth USD 3 million with the Sri Lankan Tri-Forces, it says.
   
The consignment for the Air Force includes air mobility equipment and aircraft spare parts for No. 02 and No. 03 Squadrons, to be utilized for C-130 aircraft and Beechcraft King Air 360 ER, which will soon be donated to the SLAF by the United States.

The event was attended by US Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Nelson Chief Office of Defence Cooperation Commander Sean Jin, Deputy Chief Office of Defence Cooperation Major Elizabeth Hewett, US Embassy officials and Sri Lanka tri forces officers were present at the occasion, it further says.
