A total of 13,516 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (26) - NOCPCO

The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (December 27) stands at 598 and the total cases in the country increased to 40,379, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

Five persons among the total positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans repatriated from overseas, while 235 have been identified from Colombo District, 164 from Gampaha District, 84 from Kaluthara District and 110 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (December 27).

The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 36,670 and out of them, a total of 28,643 have left hospitals following complete recovery.

NOCPCO also stated that a total of 13,516 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (26).

Meanwhile, the total arrival in the country as of today morning reads as 526 which included 1 person  from Maldives, 68 from Australia, 74 from Japan, 130 persons from Qatar, 53 from United Arab Emirates and 200 from Jordan. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri-Forces.

A total of 712 persons have left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus.

The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 32,050 persons. 8,142 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 5,791 persons are quarantining under 73 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 187 along with one Coronavirus death reported during the last 24 hours.
