Army built ‘CIMIC Park’ and houses handed over to beneficiaries
August 28, 2024The Sri Lanka Army established "CIMIC Park Kilinochchi" was opened during the weekend (Aug 25). According to Army media, this facility was established to address the educational needs of the Kilinochchi community, providing vital resources and support to local students and academic institutions.
Army Commander Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage accompanied by President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, declared open the new facility equipped with study areas, washrooms, purified water, free Wi-Fi and reliable power supply.
Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) Maj. Gen. Chandana Wickramasinghe and General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division Maj. Gen. Nalin Jayawardene were also associated with the event, it says.
Meanwhile, several houses built by the Army were recently handed over to beneficiary families in the Northern peninsula. Three houses built with Army technical expertise and labour and financial assistance from private donors in Dharmapuram (Kilinochchi), Evenai (Jaffna) and Kondavil (Jaffna) were presented to deserving families during separate ceremonies recently (Aug 25 & 26).
