SL Army athlete wins Silver at Paris Paralympics

Sri Lanka Army Warrant Officer II Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku won a silver medal in the men's F44 javelin throw event at the Paris Paralympics. SL Army media sources state that the Army athlete has set a new world record throwing a distance of 67.03 meters, breaking the previous record in his category at the event held on Monday (Sep 02, 2024).

Warrant Officer II Kodithuwakku’s performance stands out as one of the greatest achievements by a Sri Lankan athlete in the Paralympic history. He is also the only Sri Lankan to have secured a medal at the 2024 Paris Games so far, it says.
