December 28, 2020Sri Lanka Army troops rescued a civilian alive and recovered 3 dead bodies following a jeep carrying them veered off the road and plunged into the Vavunikulam tank, Mallavi on Dec 19.
It has been revealed that the members belonging to the same family had visited the tank during an outing to the area at the time the vehicle was skidded and toppled into the tank.
Having reported the incident, 10 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 3 Commando Regiment troops under the purview of the Security Forces Headquarters Wanni (SFHQ-W) arrived at the location and rescued one drowned person alive.
