Defence Secretary pays homage to Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy
December 29, 2020Defence Secretary Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne paid homage to the sacred omniscient tooth relic at the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, today (Dec 29).
Diyawadana Nilame, Nilanga Dela Bandara received the Defence Secretary and accompanied to the inner chamber, the place where the sacred tooth relic is deposited, for worship and religious rituals.
Gen. Gunaratne also paid homage to Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Most Ven. Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana thero, the Anunayaka of the Malwatte Chapter Most Ven. Niyangoda Vijithasiri thero and the Anunayaka of the Asgiriya Gedige Rajamaha Viharaya Most Ven. Wenduruwe Dharmakeerthi Sri Rathanapala Upali thero and received their blessings.
The Defence Secretary received religious blessings of Buddhist Chief Prelates following his promotion to the esteemed rank of ‘General’ yesterday (Dec 28).
