The ‘Advocacy Day’ of Preventive Brain Health Week 2024 conducted at KDU

The ‘Advocacy Day’ of the Preventive Brain Health Week 2024 was held at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) today (Dec 19).

The Minister of Health Hon. (Dr.) Nalinda Jayathissa, M.P. was the Chief Guest of the event, and the Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) joined the event as a guest of honour. Vice Chancellor (VC) of KDU, Rear Admiral Dammika Kumara received the distinguished guests on their arrival at the venue.

KDU presented the Preventive Brain Health Week 2024 as landmark event fostering global collaboration for brain health from 16 to 20 December, 2024, in partnership with the Global Patient Advocacy Coalition (GPAC) and the leading international organizations.

The Preventive Brain Health Week 2024 focuses in preventive brain health and it underscores the pivotal role of prevention, proactive care, and risk mitigation in reducing the enormous impact of neurological diseases, now the leading cause of disability globally.

Distinguished guests included the Secretary to the Ministry of Health Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Director General of Health Services. Dr. Asela Gunawardena and senior Tri-Forces officers were present at the occasion.
