Newly appointed Commander of the Navy calls on the Defence Secretary
December 31, 2024Newly appointed Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, called on the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), at the Defence Ministry in Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte, today (Dec 31).
This meeting marked Vice Admiral Banagoda's first official engagement with the Defence Secretary following his assumption of command as the Navy Chief.
Defence Secretary extended his congratulations to Vice Admiral Banagoda on his appointment and conveyed confidence in his leadership in steering the Navy toward continued excellence.
Vice Admiral Banagoda received the official appointment letter yesterday (Dec 30) from Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.
