Deputy Minister of Defence Stresses Strengthening of the
National Security Framework

Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) had a fruitful discussion with officials of the Centre for Research and Development (CRD) and Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) and underscored the importance of strengthening the national security mechanism to keep with evolving challenges and emerging threats and requested the officials to contribute their knowledge and expertise towards this national endeavour.
He also mentioned that a proper restructuring of the national security framework is needed.
The Deputy Minister met with officials of the CRD and INSS for a special meeting at his office in Colombo today (Dec 31).
Director General of CRD Major General BI Assalaratchi, Director General and Director (Research) of the INSS Colonel Nalin Herath and senior officials of both institutes were present at the discussion.
