Sri Lanka Navy Pays Final Tribute to Royal Ceylon Navy Veteran in Kayts
January 06, 2025The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) honoured the life and service of Ex-Petty Officer Arulanandam Mariampillai, a distinguished veteran of the Royal Ceylon Navy, during a solemn ceremony held on Kayts Island on Thursday (Jan 2). The tribute, conducted with precision and adherence to naval traditions, followed his passing on December 31, 2024, Navy Media says.
Petty Officer Mariampillai began his career in the Royal Ceylon Navy on December 30, 1954 and served with dedication for 22 years until his retirement on December 29, 1976.
The Northern Naval Command took charge of the funeral arrangements, ensuring they reflected the Navy’s deep respect for its traditions and honoured the legacy of its esteemed personnel, it further says.
