Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) Appointed as
Acting Minister of Defence

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake departed the country yesterday evening (Jan 13) for a four-day official visit to China.
In his absence, five Acting Ministers have been appointed, effective from today (Jan 14), to manage key portfolios under the President's purview. These include the Ministry of Digital Economy, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, and the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation.
Accordingly, Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Defence.
