Deputy Minister of Defence Commends Midshipman Tennakoon for Outstanding Achievement at Pakistan Naval Academy

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), extended his sincere congratulations to Midshipman T.M.I. Vimukthi Tennakoon of Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) in recognition of earning the prestigious Sword of Honour at the recent Commissioning Parade of the 122nd Midshipmen and 30th Short Service Commission (SSC) Course at the Pakistan Naval Academy (PNA), Karachi.

Midshipman Tennakoon was warmly welcomed by Major General Jayasekara at his office in Colombo earlier today (Jan 27). During the meeting, the Deputy Minister lauded the officer's exemplary performance and extended his best wishes for a successful and distinguished career in the SLN, on behalf of His Excellency the President. The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge and demonstrating strong leadership qualities with fellow officers and subordinates in the SLN. He highlighted the importance of the Midshipman's commitment and dedication to the professional development of those under his command, fostering a culture of mentorship and growth within the organization. Moreover, he stressed that the primary obligations lie with the nation, followed by the service, and personal development being of secondary importance.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda and the Director General Training of SLN, Rear Admiral Dammika Wijewardana were also present at the occasion.
