Progress of the Committee Appointed to look into the Welfare of
Families of Fallen War Heroes and Disable Veterans Reviewed

A discussion to review the progress of the committee appointed to look into the welfare and issues of families of fallen war heroes and disabled war veterans was held at the office of the Deputy Minister of Defence, today (Jan 28).

The discussion, chaired by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), involved deliberations with committee members and relevant authorities on identified issues, planned responses, and the current status of ongoing welfare activities.

During the proceedings, the committee members also informed the Deputy Minister of the steps taken to address the issues identified during the previous meeting.

A committee chaired by the Ministry of Defence Additional Secretary - Defence was recently appointed to identify issues through a proper methodology and provide more practical and expeditious solutions to the needs and issues that have remained unresolved. Based on the findings of this committee, a structured and collaborative process would enable to ensure the welfare of families of fallen war heroes and disabled veterans with more effective solutions to their needs.

The Additional Secretary - Defence, Chairman of the Ranaviru Seva Authority,  Director of the Pensions Department, Tri Forces Chiefs of Staff, relevant Tri Forces Directors, senior Tri Forces officers and Ministry officials also participated in this discussion.
