Sri Lanka’s total recovery from the virus rose to 35,328 persons - NOCPCO
January 01, 2021The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (January 01) stands at 597 and the total cases in the country increased to 43,298, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.
Three persons among the total positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans repatriated from overseas and two foreigners while 256 of them have been identified from Colombo District, 63 from Batticaloa District, 62 from Gampaha District and 211 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (January 01).
The numbers of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 39,549 and out of them, a total of 32,571 have left hospitals following complete recovery.
NOCPCO also stated that a total of 12,592 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (31).
Meanwhile, the total arrival in the country as of today morning reads as 355 which included 30 persons from Qatar, 35 from Maldives and 290 from Australia. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri-Forces.
A total of 706 persons have left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus.
The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 35,328 persons. 7,766 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 5,243 persons are quarantining under 77 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.
The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 204 along with five Coronavirus deaths reported during the last 24 hours.
