UN Resident Coordinator for Sri Lanka Meets Defence Secretary
February 06, 2025The United Nations Resident Coordinator for Sri Lanka, Marc - Andre Franche, paid a courtesy call on Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) at the Defence Ministry in Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte, yesterday (Feb 5).
During the meeting, the two officials engaged in a cordial discussion, exchanging views on shared interests and exploring avenues for enhanced collaboration between the Government of Sri Lanka and the United Nations. They also discussed opportunities to further strengthen defence cooperation.
Air Vice Marshal Thuyacontha (Retd) underscored the significance of Sri Lanka’s longstanding partnership with the United Nations, highlighting its contribution to national growth and development.
The Military Liaison Officer of the Defence Ministry was also present on the occasion.
