SLN nabs 04 suspects with drugs in southern seas
January 01, 2021The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), conducted a special operation at the seas off Dodanduwa, Galle on 31 Dec and nabbed 04 suspects with 05 kilos and 945 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine (ICE), 02 kilos and 47 grams of Heroin and 03 grams of Kerala cannabis.
A multi-day fishing trawler used to transfer narcotics was also seized during the operation, the SLN said.
Suspects held during the operation were identified as residents of Matara, Pothuvil, Negombo and Maskeliya areas, aged between 22 to 29.
Meanwhile, the suspects, along with narcotic substances and the multi-day fishing trawler were handed over to the Police Narcotic Bureau, Hikkaduwa for onward legal proceedings.
The entire operation was conducted adhering to healthcare guidelines, the SLN confirmed.
