Deputy Minister of Defence Emphasizes Army’s
Role in National Responsibility

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), reaffirmed the Sri Lanka Army’s pivotal role in shaping the nation's future. Addressing senior Army officers at the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday (February 04), he underscored the Army as the Strategic Force and its responsibility towards the people and their security at all times.

He also emphasized several key points in his remarks, highlighting the immense responsibility of all strategic commanders. He underscored the importance of maintaining discipline, respect and dignity among Army personnel, recognizing them as the institution’s most valuable asset. Additionally, he stressed the need to depoliticize the Army and enhance its professionalism by ensuring strict adherence to military laws, rules and regulations.

Furthermore, the Deputy Minister expounded on the 'Clean Sri Lanka' initiative, highlighting that its scope extends beyond environmental cleanliness and waste management, encompassing a broader spectrum of societal improvements.

Senior Army officers, including the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo, and the Chief of Staff, attended the event.
