Deputy Minister of Defence Visits Air Force Headquarters
February 14, 2025Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), paid his inaugural visit to the Air Force Headquarters on Thursday (Feb 13). Upon arrival, he was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour and warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Sri Jayewardenepura.
Following this, Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe warmly welcomed the Deputy Minister and introduced him to the Air Force Board of Management. During their meeting, the two officials engaged in a productive discussion on key matters. To commemorate the occasion, mementoes were also exchanged.
The visit proceeded with an overview briefing on the Sri Lanka Air Force, conducted by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Base Ratmalana. The Deputy Minister then participated in a virtual discussion with SLAF Base Commanders and Station Commanding Officers.
Subsequently, Director General of Air Operations and Director Air Intelligence delivered a comprehensive presentation on SLAF’s air operations and intelligence activities. The Deputy Minister also toured various directorates at Air Force Headquarters, gaining deeper insights into the organization’s operational and administrative functions.
Concluding his visit, the Deputy Minister addressed the service personnel of Air Force Headquarters, emphasizing the need for all members to perform their duties with utmost dedication for the betterment of the nation. He also underscored the importance of cost efficiency and urged personnel to uphold the nation’s cultural values while fulfilling their responsibilities.
In a final interaction, he engaged in a cordial discussion with officers, airmen and civilian employees, fostering a spirit of unity and commitment within the force.
