Sri Lanka’s total recovery from the virus rose to 36,154 persons - NOCPCO
January 02, 2021The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (January 02) stands at 557 and the total cases in the country increased to 43,855, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.
Two persons among the total positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans repatriated from overseas and two foreigners while 192 of them have been identified from Colombo District, 127 from Gampaha District, 61 from Kaluthara District and 175 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (January 02).
The numbers of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 40,104 and out of them, a total of 33,397 have left hospitals following complete recovery.
NOCPCO also stated that a total of 14,565 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (01).
Meanwhile, the total arrival in the country as of today morning reads as 159 which included 43 persons from UAE and 116 from Qatar. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri-Forces.
A total of 826 persons have left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus.
The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 36,154 persons. 7,493 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 4,915 persons are quarantining under 78 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.
The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 208 along with four Coronavirus deaths reported during the last 24 hours.
