Defence Ministry Reviews the Progress of On-going Clean Sri Lanka Initiatives

As instructed by the Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), a special session was conducted in order to review the progress of ongoing Clean Sri Lanka initiatives implemented in the ministerial level at the Ministry auditorium today (Mar 21).

The session commenced with the opening remarks conducted by Additional Secretary - Parliamentary Affairs and Policy, Gamini Mahagamage, who emphasized the importance of the ministry’s role in driving the project forward.

During the event, Director General Planning (Disaster Management), W.W.S. Mangala, conducted the introductory session, providing insights into how the Clean Sri Lanka concept could be integrated into the Ministry of Defence’s operations. He highlighted the initiative’s objectives and its potential to bring transformative changes.

He further elaborated on the project’s vision in accordance with its theme ‘A Thriving Nation, A Beautiful Life’, building upon the discussions led by Kapila Janaka Bandara during the ministry’s previous session on the initiative.

Heads of respective departments were also given a platform to share their experiences from similar programmes previously implemented within their divisions. They discussed strategies for future initiatives aligned with the Clean Sri Lanka project, emphasizing innovative approaches to sustainability and national development.

The progress review session of the Clean Sri Lanka programme marks another significant step in the ministry’s commitment to national development and environmental sustainability, reinforcing its dedication to fostering a cleaner and more prosperous nation.
