Defence Secretary Directs Enhanced Security Measures for
Easter Sunday Church Services

During a special meeting held today (Apr 17), the Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) instructed the Tri-Forces Commanders to implement comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of worshippers attending Christian church services on Easter Sunday.
Defence Secretary emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts with the Ministry of Public Security to facilitate these measures effectively and maintain a secure environment across all places of worship.
Defence Secretary further emphasized that the primary objective is to ensure the public can attend Easter Sunday services in a peaceful and secure environment, preventing any recurrence of the disruption and tragedy experienced during the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
