Deputy Minister of Defence Pays Final Respects to Late His Holiness Pope Francis
April 25, 2025Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), visited the Vatican Embassy this morning (Apr 25) to express his condolences on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.
He was received by His Excellency Most Reverend Archbishop Brian N. Udaigwe, the Apostolic Nuncio of the Vatican to Sri Lanka.
During a brief meeting with Archbishop Udaigwe, the Deputy Minister conveyed his sympathies and signed the book of condolence, offering a heartfelt message on behalf of the nation.
He paid tribute to the profound legacy of the late Pontiff, recognizing his exceptional spiritual leadership and unwavering service to the global Christian community.
