A total of 12,456 PCR tests conducted yesterday (06) - NOCPCO

The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (January 07) stands at 522 and the total cases in the country increased to 46,247, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

One person among the total positives identified yesterday was a Sri Lankan repatriated from overseas, while 206 have been identified from Colombo District, 97 from Gampaha District, 81 from Kaluthara District and 137 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (January 07).

The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 42,476 and out of them, a total of 36,265 have left hospitals following complete recovery.

NOCPCO also stated that a total of 12,456 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (06).

Meanwhile, the total arrival in the country as of today morning reads as 231 which included 30 persons from Qatar and 201 from Cyprus. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri-Forces.

A total of 761 persons have left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus.

The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 39,022 persons. 7,006 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 4,912 persons are quarantining under 76 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 219 along with two Coronavirus deaths reported during the last 24 hours.
