Air Force ‘Kafir’ Squadron celebrates Silver Jubilee
January 07, 2021The number 10 Fighter Squadron widely known as the “Lion Cubs” of Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) celebrated its ‘Silver Jubilee’ at the SLAF Base, Katunayake on Jan 5.
This Squadron was awarded the President’s Colours by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in year 2009 for its tremendous contribution rendered for the Sri Lankan war against terrorism.
Founded in Jan 5, 1996 at SLAF Base Katunayake, initially with Six Kfir multirole fighter jets acquired from Israel, the Squadron has logged more than 2,800 hours in its operational flying.
Current SLAF Commander, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana is also a founder member of the Squadron.
