638 persons left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus

The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (January 08) stands at 532 and the total cases in the country increased to 46,779, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

Seven persons among the total positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans repatriated from overseas while 226 of them have been identified from Colombo District, 72 from Kandy District, 50 from Gampaha District and 177 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (January 08).

The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 43,001 and out of them, a total of 36,903 have left hospitals following complete recovery.

NOCPCO also stated that a total of 15,041 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (07).

Meanwhile, the total arrival in the country as of today morning reads as 261 which included 157 persons from Australia, 45 persons from Japan, 30 persons from Qatar and 29 persons from India. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri-Forces.

A total of 638 persons have left hospitals and quarantine centres yesterday after complete recovery from the virus.

The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 39,660 persons. 6,897 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 5,782 persons are quarantining under 78 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 222 along with three Coronavirus deaths reported during the last 24 hours.
