Sri Lanka’s total recovery from the virus rose to 40,316 persons - NOCPCO
January 09, 2021The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (January 09) stands at 525 and the total cases in the country increased to 47,304, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.
One person among the total positives identified yesterday was Sri Lankan repatriated from the overseas while 193 of them have been identified from Colombo District, 94 from Gampaha District, 56 from Vavunia District and 181 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (January 09).
The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 43,525 and out of them, a total of 37,559 have left hospitals following complete recovery.
NOCPCO also stated that a total of 15,472 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (08).
Meanwhile, the total arrival in the country as of today morning reads as 511 which included 340 persons from United Arab Emirates, 126 from Qatar and 45 from India. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri-Forces.
A total of 656 persons have left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus.
The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 40,316 persons. 6,763 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 5,684 persons are quarantining under 73 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.
The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 225 along with three Coronavirus deaths reported during the last 24 hours.
