A total of 15,146 PCR tests conducted yesterday (15) - NOCPCO
January 16, 2021The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (January 16) stands at 695 and the total cases in the country increased to 51,596, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.
Eight persons among the total positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans repatriated from overseas and another 4 persons are foreigners who arrived the country while 168 have been identified from Gampaha District, 147 from Colombo District, 90 from Kandy District and 278 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (January 16).
The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 47,788 and out of them, a total of 41,501 have left hospitals following complete recovery.
NOCPCO also stated that a total of 15,146 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (15).
Meanwhile, the total arrival in the country as of today morning reads as 208 which included 50 persons from the United Arab Emirates, 50 persons from Maldives, 45 persons from Qatar, 63 persons from India. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri-Forces.
A total of 512 persons have left hospitals yesterday (16) after complete recovery from the virus.
The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 44,258 persons. 7,083 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 6,536 persons are quarantining under 80 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.
The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 255 along with four Coronavirus deaths reported during the last 24 hours.
