Sri Lanka’s total recovery from the virus rose to 44,745 persons - NOCPCO
January 17, 2021The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (January 17) stands at 719 and the total cases in the country increased to 52,312, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.
Four persons among the total positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans repatriated from overseas while 182 have been identified from Gampaha District, 152 from Colombo District, 75 from Kandy District and 306 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (January 17).
The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 48,503 and out of them, a total of 41,745 have left hospitals following complete recovery.
NOCPCO also stated that a total of 13,681 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (16).
Meanwhile, the total arrival in the country as of today morning reads as 503 which included 36 persons from Qatar, 369 persons from United Arab Emirates, 23 persons from Maldives, 29 persons from Australia, 46 persons from Japan. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri-Forces.
A total of 487 persons have left hospitals yesterday (16) after complete recovery from the virus.
The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 44,745 persons. 7,311 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 7,131 persons are quarantining under 83 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.
The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 256 along with one Coronavirus death reported during the last 24 hours.
