769 persons left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus

The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (January 22) stands at 887 and the total cases in the country increased to 56,075, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

Thirteen persons among the total positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans repatriated from the overseas and one foreign personnel while 337 of them have been identified from Colombo District, 71 from Kaluthara District, 136 from Gampaha District and 327 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (January 22).

The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 52,180 and out of them, a total of 42,821 have left hospitals following complete recovery.

NOCPCO also stated that a total of 16,108 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (21).

Meanwhile, the total arrival in the country as of today morning reads as 196 which included 28 persons from Kuwait, 148 from Australia and 20 from Japan. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri-Forces.

A total of 769 persons have left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus.

The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 47,983 persons. 7,816 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 8,173 persons are quarantining under 91 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 276 along with two Coronavirus deaths reported during the last 24 hours.
