SLN sets up RO Plants to facilitate villagers at Ampara
February 06, 2021Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) continuing its community welfare oriented services vested four more Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plants, for water-stressed residents in Padiyathalawa Divisional Secretariat, Ampara on 04 Feb.
Partnering the national program mooted to prevent the chronic kidney disease in several parts of the country, the SLN under the sponsorship of the Health Ministry has established 817 RO plants around the country while providing technical expertise and labour.
Accordingly, the new facilities have been installed at office premises of Padiyathalawa Divisional Secretariat, Kollegama Raja Maha Viharaya, Serankada Purana Rajamaha Viharaya and Children’s Park in Meegaswatta, the SLN said.
Consequently, these RO plants would facilitate the community in respective areas with safe drinking water, the SLN also said.
Captain Logistics Department Southeastern Naval Command, Capt. Prashan Marso declared open the new RO plants during a brief ceremony organized at the village. Naval personnel and villagers were present at the opening ceremony.
Further, the event was held in accordance with health and safety guidelines due to existing COVID-19 concerns.
