February 09, 2021- President instructs to improve the panoramic view while inspecting.
Acquiring a new project, the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) took over the Galle Face Green Stalls Facelift under the directives of His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday (Feb 8).
Accordingly, the SLN will construct permanent stalls at the Galle Face Green without disturbing the panoramic view, said the Deputy Director Naval Civil Engineering (Planning) Commodore Ranjani Chandrasekara.
Commodore Chandrasekara told defence.lk that SLN has also projected to deploy skilled manpower and the technical expertise for the project.
President Rajapaksa accompanied by the Minister of Ports and Shipping Hon. Rohitha Abeygunawardene, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Gen. Daya Ratnayake (Retd) and several other state officials inspected the project yesterday.
President Rajapaksa had instructed the officials to preserve the panoramic view during the project.
This initiative would be a leap forward in the Galle Face Green Development project, Commodore Chandrasekara added.
