“Gajabahu” attends “AMAN - 2021” Multinational Naval Exercise

The Sri Lanka Navy Ship, "Gajabahu" was among the naval ships and crafts of 45 countries that attended the multinational naval exercise "AMAN 2021" in Karachi, Pakistan on Feb 12.  

SLNS Gajabahu had left for Pakistan on Feb 05 to attend the exercise representing the Sri Lanka Navy.

AMAN organized by the Pakistan Navy under the theme ‘Together for Peace’ was commenced at Pakistan Navy Dockyard in Karachi, Pakistan and was held from Feb 12 to 16, the SLN said.

This is the 7th  in the series of 'AMAN" naval exercises since its commencement in 2007 to promote regional cooperation and stability, greater interoperability and display unity against traditional and non-traditional security threats.

The harbour phase of AMAN-2021 was held from Feb 12 to 14 at the port of Karachi and the sea phase of the exercise was held on Feb 15 and 16 in the North Arabian Sea with an emphasis on maritime security operations, counter terrorism operations and humanitarian assistance operation, the SLN also said.

On the sidelines of the exercise, the International Maritime Conference was held from Feb 13 to 15 under the auspices of the Pakistan Navy on the theme of "Development of Blue Economy under a Secure and Sustainable Environment: A Shared Future for Western Indian Ocean Region".

The exercises were held adhering to strict health and safety guidelines in the face of COVID-19 global pandemic.
