All set for SLAF 70th Anniversary
February 19, 2021Unveiling the official logo designed for the 70th Anniversary celebration, the Air Force Chief Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana states the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) will celebrate its anniversary on Mar 2 upholding its rich traditions.
The celebration will commence with the "Pichcha Mal Pooja" ritual on Mar 1 at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya while following healthcare guidelines.
In keeping with the long-standing Air Force customs, the formal celebration will be held at the SLAF Base Katunayake, following the Air Force Day Parade on Mar 2.
All other SLAF establishments will also join the event while organizing similar military customs.
Following ceremonial proceedings, the special commemorative cover and stamp will be launched symbolizing the day.
In recognition of the exceptional services rendered to the nation, President’s Colours will be awarded to the number 05 Fighter Squadron and the number 06 Helicopter Squadron on Mar 5 at the SLAF Base Katunayake.
The customary annual spectacle of Air Force Cycle Race -2021 will be held on Mar 07 for the 22nd consecutive year, and the Air Force Commander’s Rugby Cup held on Mar 20-21 and 26-27 culminates the 70th Anniversary celebration, the SLAF said.
