Total virus recovery in Sri Lanka rose to 73,455 persons

The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (February 21) stands at 543 and the total cases in the country increased to 79,479, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

Fifteen persons among the total positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans repatriated from overseas while 180 have been identified from Colombo District, 116 from Gampaha District, 39 from Ratnapura and Puttalam Districts and 154 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (February 21).

The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 75,910 and out of them, a total of 72,062 have left hospitals following complete recovery.

The NOCPCO also stated that a total of 15,892 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (20).

A total of 890 persons have left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus.

The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 73,455 persons. 5,589 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 9,486 persons are quarantining under 96 centres managed by Tri-Forces, the NOCPCO added.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 435 along with two Coronavirus deaths reported during the last 24 hours.
