Italian Ambassador meets Defence Secretary
March 05, 2021Her Excellency Rita Giuliana Mannella, Ambassador of Italy for Sri Lanka and Maldives, made a courtesy call on the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) at the Defence Ministry in Colombo, today (Mar 05).
Matters of bilateral importance and mutual relevance were discussed between the Defence Secretary and the Italian envoy during the meeting.
Meanwhile, supportive measures to boost the tourism sector through Italian tourists and avenues for Italian investment in Sri Lanka were also discussed during the session.
H.E. Mannella has served in New Delhi as First Secretary (Commercial), in New York as Consul and then as the Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Representation to the UN Rome based Agencies (FAO, WFP, IFAD).
Prior to the appointment in Sri Lanka, she has worked with the Director General for Development Cooperation as the Director for Communication and Visibility.
Military Liaisons Officer of the Ministry of Defence Brig. Dinesh Nanayakkara and Officials of the Italian Embassy were also present.
