SLN nabs 2217 kilos of dried turmeric
March 05, 2021The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) nabbed 2217 kilos of dried turmeric in two occasions with seven suspects in Manalkulam area, Silawathura and Pulachchanai in Norochcholai.
The raid conducted by SLN in Manalkulam area had seized a haul of dried turmeric in 24 sacks with two suspects yesterday (4).
In the same vein, 1391 kilos of dried turmeric were also seized during the transfer in separate occasions and 38 sacks were taken into the custody.
Five suspects involved in the racket were also taken into the custody.
Suspects held were identified as residents of Silawathura, Palaviya and Wattala, in between 31 to 52 years of age.
All the suspects along with arrested items and vehicles were handed over to the respective Police Stations for onward legal actions, the SLN said.
In addition, 6 million worth of Crystal Methamphetamine (Ice) were also arrested in the recent SLN deployed operations.
