'Deegawapiya Aruna' receives Rs. 2.65 million

The 'Deegawapiya Aruna' Trust Fund received a donation worth of Rs. 2.65 million from Dr. Priyangi Amarabandu yesterday (Mar 18).

The cheque was handed over to the Defence Secretary and the Chairperson of 'Archaeological Heritage Management Presidential Task Force' (PTF) for Eastern Province, Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) during a brief meeting held at the Ministry.

Dr. Priyangi Amarabandu who is a Consultant Pathologist of the 'National Cancer Institute', (Apeksha Hospital) in Maharagama said "The donation was intended for Deegawapiya Stupa restoration process" mentioning that her donation is a combined effort of local and foreign well-wishers.

Military Liaison Officer of the Defence Ministry Brig. Dinesh Nanayakkara was also present at the event.
