Army introduced eco-friendly, bus stop with digital facilities at Battaramulla
March 19, 2021The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) established ‘m stop’; a solar-powered, air conditioned and multi-functional bus halt in the ‘Diyatha Uyana’ area at Battaramulla was declared open for bus commuters, recently.
The ‘m stop’ with eco-friendly and comfortable digital accessories has been designed and manufactured by the SLA’s Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment.
The facilities include an ATM, passenger seats, Wi-Fi, air conditioned seating area, CCTV surveillance, two entrances, city map navigation system, digital LCD display for commercials, mini shop with grocery and reload facilities and bus time table.
Hon State Minister of Vehicle Regulation, Bus Transport Services and Train Compartments and Motor Car Industry, Dilum Amunugama together Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army with Gen. Shavendra Silva declared open the new facility.
The National Transport Commission will be responsible for its management while a shopkeeper has been entrusted for business inside the new kiosk.
Senior military officers , state officials and the Chief Executive Officer of Mobitel were present at the occasion.
