Navy douses fire erupted on a trawler in Dikkowita harbour
March 30, 2021Navy’s fire-fighters doused an abrupt fire on a multi-day fishing trawler at the Dikkowita Fisheries Harbour yesterday (29).
Since the fire-fighters could effectively contain the fire triggered on board the vessel, adjacent crafts were safeguarded unharmed.
The Sri Lanka Navy’s (SLN) fire-fighters arrived at the scene responding to a distress alert issued by the Dikkowita Coast Guard Station.
The combined effort of the SLN fire-fighters, Colombo Municipal Council Fire Service, Dikkowita Coast Guard personnel and a group of people from the fisheries harbour managed to contain the fire.
The injured personnel were transferred to the nearest hospitals with the assistance of the Dikkowita Coast Guard Station, the SLN said.
