Army shines at shooting championship
April 12, 2019The Sri Lanka Army had won the Overall Championship at the National Shooting Sports Federation (NSSF Open Rifle and Pistol Shooting Championship - 2019 held recently. According to Army media, the Army team had won 8 Gold, 6 Silver and 2 Bronze medals at the tournament conducted at the Sri Lanka Navy Small Bore Range at Welisara.
186 competitors from the Tri Forces, Police, shooting clubs and schools had taken part at the competition conducted from 03 - 08 April. Events had been held under several categories including 10, 25 and 50 meter ranges in Air Pistol, Sports Pistol, Fire Pistol, Standard Pistol and Air Rifle shooting.
Army Small Bore shooters had won the Overall Championship creating 3 new Sri Lanka records and claiming 8 Gold, 6 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. Navy with 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze medals won the second place while Air Force became third winning 5 Bronze medals.
