Troops build houses for two deserving families in Jaffna

Sri Lanka Army troops in Jaffna has yet again assisted two deserving families in Sollipuram, Jaffna to move to a better abode after their plight was brought to their notice. Army's initiative in providing a solution to their problem saw the two beneficiary families receive new houses built by Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J).

The houses were handed over to the two families during a ceremony on Sunday (07 April). Funds for the construction was provided by SFHQ-J, While the construction was carried out by 14 Gajaba Regiment (GR) and 5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR). Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna Major General Dharshana Hettiarrachchi graced the houses handing over ceremony.

Meanwhile, 10 push bicycles, provided by two philanthropists, were distributed among deserving children from low-income families living in the peninsula by the SFHQ-J. These bicycles were provided to the children to ease their commute between school and homes. Hundreds of students in the Northern region have benefitted from the Army's project to provide bicycles to school children as a measure to overcome transport difficulties faced by them to travel to their schools and homes.
